The role of standardizing teaching methods in improving student performance
Abstract
Modern educational systems prioritize providing equitable learning environments to ensure fair learning levels for students across diverse settings. Educational resources are among the most important tools for achieving this, serving as a fundamental pillar in the learning process, which has become a lifelong experience based on creativity and active interaction. It is no longer simply a process of information transfer, especially in a world where educational theories are advancing and digital transformations are accelerating.
Modern educational systems strive to provide equal learning environments to achieve fair learning levels for students in different settings. The current study aims to determine the role of standardizing teaching methods in improving student performance. To achieve this aim, a descriptive research methodology was employed, utilizing a questionnaire developed by the researchers. The questionnaire consisted of 20 items on a five-point Likert scale (strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree). After confirming its face validity through expert review and its reliability using test-retest reliability, the questionnaire was administered to a sample of 100 professors of teaching methodologies from various disciplines within the Ministry of Higher Education. These professors were chosen because they are best positioned to offer solutions to the problem of student performance, given their specialization and experience. The research findings revealed the following:
Standardizing teaching methods plays a significant role in improving student performance by providing a consistent learning environment that facilitates understanding lessons, reduces distractions, and allows for greater comprehension.
Standardizing teaching methods reduces the time, effort, and confusion involved in selecting appropriate teaching aids, thus providing teachers with a supportive and motivating tool.
Standardizing teaching methods bridges the gap between students in all Iraqi learning environments, ensuring equal educational opportunities and equity in education. In light of the research findings, the researchers recommended the following:
The Ministry of Education should adopt a policy of standardizing educational resources across all grade levels and subjects.
Appoint a number of schools with low student performance to pilot the standardized educational resources before implementing a comprehensive standardization program.
Establish an online platform dedicated to the standardized educational resources, including audio-visual materials that support the curriculum for all grade levels and subjects.
The Ministry of Education should provide a user guide tailored to each teacher's specialization and grade level, explaining how to use the educational resources appropriately.
The Ministry of Education should instruct educational supervisors to monitor the implementation of the standardized educational resources.
The Ministry of Education should provide regular updates to the standardized educational resources to ensure they keep pace with global advancements in knowledge and technology.
The Ministry of Education should provide suitable infrastructure in its schools and institutes to effectively implement the standardized educational resources.
